The Music Education Scholarship Fund
In every small town, music has the power to uplift, connect, and transform lives.
We fund students who study music seriously — and who promise to bring it home, teaching piano, voice, and instruments privately in the small communities of Atlantic Canada.
Where music once thrived, a silence
The Fund is established in loving memory of a devoted family of music teachers, whose legacy once resonated through a community where pupils learned piano, theory, and music history. With their passing, that community now faces a silence where music once thrived.
This endowment is more than financial support. It is a promise to nurture those who not only pursue excellence in music, but who commit to enriching their communities through private instruction. It is both a tribute to the past and a promise for the future — supporting students who aspire to study music and to share their gifts with communities in need of inspiration and instruction.
With each scholarship awarded, we invest in a future where music continues to echo in the hearts and homes of small towns everywhere.
Who we’re looking for
Four things matter. The rest we can talk about.
You’re studying music
Accepted or enrolled in a recognised music education program, with real aptitude and a serious interest.
You’re already teaching
You give private instruction now, or you intend to while you study. The habit matters more than the hours.
You’re coming home
A written statement of intent to return to — or stay in — a small Atlantic Canadian community and teach privately.
You understand why
You can say, in your own words, how music education transforms lives and builds a community worth living in.
Applicants must be residents of Atlantic Canada and provide letters of recommendation from music instructors or community leaders. Full eligibility and how to apply →
Letters from the recipients
Once a year, every recipient writes to tell us where they are and where they’re going.
The first letters are still being written. Check back after the first cohort’s spring term.
Give a town its music back
The Fund is supported entirely by donations and bequests. Every contribution goes to the scholarships, and nowhere else.
